Day two: Changing your mind and getting back to the core

Around sixty particpants started working on their 10 new startups. We saw some teams hit the floor running, and others discussing their ideas, business models and going back and forth on their strategies. So guys, welcome to startuplife! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Several very enthusiastic experts gave their feedback on the first ideas and businessplans, leaving some teams even more enthusiastic, and others just… confused? Again: welcome to startup life!

Great first evening Startup Weekend Enschede!

Wow, what a great first evening we had! Some teams are still working on their concepts and for sure will over-think their business models one more time before they go to sleep.

We started tonight with a very interesting keynote presentation from Arthur van Hoff about his experience with starting up companies in Silicon Valley and of course about his current company Flipboard where he is the CTO.

Also the winner of Startup Weekend Amsterdam; Henk Willem Beks, Goddess Alert, gave a presentation about his concept and his experiences in Amsterdam.

After these two speakers it was time to pitch. About 25 enthusiastic pitches were performed by the participants. At the end the public selected the best pitches:

  • De Truienradar – Lars Renegen
  • Music donations – Frank van Viegen
  • ProjectLink – Matthijs Scholten
  • Lingerie Portal – Tracy Spoor
  • Yes we care – Annelies Hartmans
  • 3d application furniture clothing – Wout Zweers
  • Coach-me-now – Dirk Loeffelbein
  • GetOut! – Jim Clermonts
  • Tapazz Car Tasting – Maarten, Stijn, Nosa

Teams were formed around these concepts and found their way to their ’54 hrs offices’ in the smart creation room, working into the night!

Startup Weekend is coming to Enschede!

Startup Weekends are 54-hour events where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups!

Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees are encouraged to bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams design and develop business plans while constantly streamlining their startup vision. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes, listen to judges’ feedback and in some cities, win prizes.

Startup Weekends are specifically designed for entrepreneurs interested in receiving feedback on an idea, looking for a co-founder, or who want to learn a new skill. We also welcome anyone looking to test the entrepreneurial waters. Startup Weekends are risk-free environments where everyone is expected to roll up their sleeves and dive into the exhilarating world of startups.
